Community Guidelines
1. Be Real
Use your real or consistently used identity. Do not impersonate people, create deceptive accounts, or mislead others about who you are.
2. Respect Other People
Do not harass, bully, dogpile, threaten, sexually harass, intimidate, or deliberately humiliate other readers. Do not encourage self-harm, suicide, or violence against others. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out to a crisis resource in your country. In the US, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. In the EU, contact your national helpline.
3. No Hate or Extremism
Do not post or send content that attacks, dehumanizes, or excludes people based on protected traits. Do not praise, promote, or organize extremist violence or terrorism.
4. Keep Sexual Content and Exploitation Out
Do not post non-consensual sexual content, sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material, grooming content, incest content, or content that sexualizes minors. Do not use Emberlitt to solicit sexual services or exploitative relationships. Any child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will be immediately removed and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement as required by law.
5. No Dangerous or Criminal Activity
Do not use Emberlitt for scams, fraud, doxxing, blackmail, extortion, trafficking, illegal goods, malware, credential theft, or instructions for serious criminal harm.
6. Respect Privacy
Do not publish someone else’s private or sensitive information without permission, including addresses, private contact details, private messages, financial information, government identifiers, or precise location data.
7. Respect Intellectual Property
Only upload books, media, images, audio, and other materials you have the right to share. Do not pirate, leak, or distribute infringing content.
8. Keep Content Authentic
Do not use spam, fake engagement, manipulative reposting, mass unsolicited messages, or coordinated abuse. Do not use Emberlitt to manipulate rankings, recommendations, or discovery.
9. Use Reading Spaces Properly
Reading Circles, chats, comments, Clubs, annotations, and profiles should be used for genuine reading-related and community activity. Do not use them to flood readers with irrelevant, abusive, or repetitive content.
10. Reporting and Blocking
If you see abusive, unlawful, or infringing content, use Emberlitt’s reporting tools. If another reader is bothering you, use Emberlitt’s blocking tools. You can also contact support@emberlitt.com for assistance.
11. Child Safety
Emberlitt is not for children under 13. Any attempt to exploit, contact, groom, or endanger minors is prohibited and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
12. Violent or Graphic Content
Do not post content that depicts, glorifies, or promotes real-world violence, gore, severe injury, or death. Do not share graphic imagery intended to shock, disturb, or intimidate other readers. Content depicting violence in the context of legitimate literary discussion may be permitted at Emberlitt’s discretion, but must not be gratuitous or used to harass.
13. AI-Generated and Synthetic Content
Do not use AI tools, bots, or automated systems to generate spam, fake reviews, synthetic profiles, deepfakes, or misleading content that impersonates real people. AI-assisted content (such as AI-generated book summaries or discussion prompts) is permitted when clearly identified as AI-generated and when it does not violate other guidelines. Do not use automated tools to mass-create accounts, mass-follow, mass-message, or otherwise manipulate Emberlitt’s features at scale. Do not use AI tools to generate content that could be mistaken for official Emberlitt communications or that mimics another reader’s writing style without their consent.
14. Misinformation
Do not deliberately spread false or misleading information that could cause real-world harm, including health misinformation, fabricated news, or deceptive claims presented as fact. Book reviews, literary opinions, and subjective interpretations are not covered by this rule.
15. Enforcement
Emberlitt may take enforcement actions when these Guidelines are violated. Actions may include, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation: • A warning or educational notice about the specific rule violated. • Removal or restriction of the offending content. • Temporary suspension of account features or access. • Permanent suspension or termination of your account. • Reporting to law enforcement where required by law or where there is an imminent risk of harm. Emberlitt may act on reports from other readers, proactive detection systems, or its own review. Enforcement decisions are made at Emberlitt’s sole discretion.
16. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, you may submit an appeal by contacting support@emberlitt.com within 30 days of the action. For account terminations scheduled for permanent deletion, appeals must be submitted within seventy-two (72) hours as described in the Terms of Service. Include your username, a description of the action, and an explanation of why you believe it was incorrect. Emberlitt will review appeals and respond within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 14 business days. Emberlitt’s decision on appeal is final. Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reversal of any enforcement action.
